מה זה עבורך להיות אישה בישראל? כך נפתחה ההרצאה על מגדר וזכויות האישה למשתלמות קורס המיילדות בבית החולים קפלן. דיברנו על שוויון זכויות, על פמיניזם רדיקלי על זכות הבחירה והסכמה מדעת. אז מה הקשר בין מין-מגדר-מיניות? מדוע חשוב לדבר על הגמוניה גברית ועל מנגנוני הכוחות והבנייה חברתית? השתקת השיח על הוסת, ההיסטוריה של אמצעי המניעה, הפוליטיקה של הפסקות ההריון, פונדקאות, וכמובן רפואה מגדרית ועוד המון נושאים משמעותיים לחיי נשים בכלל ולמיילדות בפרט. פגשתי 44 מיילדות לעתיד במדינת ישראל , שתיגענה בחייהן של כ-24,000 יולדות (!!) בשנה. מיילדות הן סוכנות של שינוי, במחלקה בביה"ח ובקהילה, לפני ואחרי המשמרת. תודה לג׳יזל טל רוזן מרכזת הקורס שהבינה כמה הנושא הזה משמעותי עבור מיילדות והזמינה אותי. What does being a woman mean to you? This was the opening sentence in my lecture on Gender and Woman’s Rights to the participants in the Midwifery Course at the The Kaplan Medical Center (KMC), in Rehovot today. We discussed equality, radical feminism, the right to choose and informed consent. What’s the relationships between Sex, Gender and Sexuality? Why is it important to understand the background of male hegemony, the power structures and social constructs? The clinical 'silence' around the role of the menstrual cycle, the history of contraception, the politics of abortion, surrogacy and gender biased medicine – these and many other issues that define feminine health in general and impact midwifery-led care in particular. In Israel, 44 new midwives will touch the lives of 24,000 women per year (!!). Midwives are agents of change – both in the maternity ward and in the community, before and after their shift.
